Great Reveal

It has been a goal for sometime for Teesh to serve a mission. Its always been a "I will see where I am at that point of my life" thought because women serve at age of 21. A couple of years ago, the age requirement was lowered to age 19. Teesh had a struggle with many obstacles as she was preparing, one being the ole braces coming off. Darn stubborn teeth not moving as quickly as expected. Perseverance paid off and look at those pearly whites.

She had several appointments fall through with the bishop and stake president but in the end the papers were submitted and look what showed up in the mail. Our stake pres said, " it could come next Wednesday, the missionary committee meets on Thursday morning and it will be in their inbox". I honestly thought well that's perfect case scenario and most likely there will be a glitch. We had many obligations on Wednesday and did not return until after school carpool. Teesh went to get the mail and look what she found......
never doubt perfect scenario, it happens peeps
Because the call came on Bria's birthday and Teesh being the sensitive gal she is, she waited until Friday to open it. I have to say, I would not have had the patience to wait. That baby would have been open day one. Teesh saw a skirt on pinterest and decided to make it for herself. It turned out to be a bit more detailed so a lovely ward member helped Teesh complete the goal. I think she did a pretty fantastic job.

Teesh did not want a large gathering for the big reveal, she invited a few close family members and friends. Trish and Steven brought her these colorful beautiful flowers. So thoughtful.

After Grandma and Grandpa Ellis, Grandma Hansen, Jaren, Cindy, and Sarah, Janalee, Trish and Steven plus our immediate family had arrived, it was time to open the large white envelope.
Oh my goodness, anxiety is high at this point. Most guessed that Teesh would serve in Europe or Canada and in the end we were all wrong.
Leticia Elizabeth Hansen you are here by called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint in the Philippines, Olongapo mission. You will serve for 18 months and report to the Provo MTC on January 21st, 2015.

My parents just returned from their 4th mission. They have been serving in Florida, Fort Lauderdale for the past 18 months.
Because we had so many supportive family members here we ended the evening with the spanking machine for Bria. The spanking machine has been a loved tradition for years. Uncle Jaren makes it super fun. He is one crazy fun uncle.

So proud of you Teesh. I know you will do amazing things for the Filipino people. You are beautiful inside and out and we love you. Holy Cow, it is real my baby is leaving in a blink of an eye.

Dirty Dash w/a guest

Has it really been a year since we last did this event? Whoa slow down time, I am having a hard time keeping up.
This is our 2nd annual dirty dash and now we have recruits, Janalberries, only our most favorite spunky family member.

As we drove up to Soldier Hollow, we pounded that we would all attempt each obstacle as well as complete the 10k route. The course was different than last year but we still had fun. Sierra's toe was bugging her so she took off her shoe and ran barefoot one shoe one, one shoe off. New Trend, perhaps! As we were running from obstacle to obstacle there was ticklish grass underfoot. Sierra mentioned this and it was a laugh for all.

There weren't as many photographers this year but I still think we go some great shots. What a fun day. Perfect temps, perfect company just love all around.
