Bathroom Remodel

When we purchased our home in Taylorsville, it was a 2 year commitment. We both felt good about 2 years. This home did not possess all that we desired in a home, but it felt right to purchase so we did. It was perfect timing, Teesh was 9, Sierra 7 and  Malia 4. Plenty of time to sink our roots in our next home before the girls lives become less movable.

Well, 12 years later, we are still enjoying our home. On so many levels this house is great, we feel blessed to be here. Some draw backs are no youth in ward or neighborhood. My girls have a small selection of friends, some being we attend different schools, but mostly because people have raised their families and love the area so much they are choosing to retire in their newly remodeled home. Awesome.
Anyway, so we discussed a few things and decided since Malia is soon to be a junior in high school lets make the most of it and stick it out for at least 2 more years.

The house is great, like I mentioned but it has a few flaws. The Bathrooms are one of the flaws.
First project up......  main and master bathrooms. They are just a bit nasty and we have been doing "make do jimmy jobs" for years. The drains were put in wrong so there is a mold issue(we did not know this for many years) so we found a handy man and put him to work. He did an excellent job and now we have two brand new bathrooms. We love them and wish we would have done this in year 2 of living here. Oh well, better late than never.

We have a light in our ceiling and a

bench to sit on!!!! Spoiled rotten, yes I know.

We opted for wood grain tile for our floor. I went with dark and I have to say I love it!!! Yes, it shows the dirt but I am okay with it!

I decided instead of paying someone to paint or stain my orange vanity I would try my hand at the project. Pinterest to the rescue. I was able to gather some great tips and only have a few days my vanity looked pretty darn amazing.

We added some door handles and switched out the old grimy brass hinges

I did not get a before picture but it looks considerably better ha ha

Corbster made us a unique towel holder

and I am super proud of myself on this in-genius idea, we have medicine cabinet where our tooth brushes are held. Those cords those blasted cords, so I thought long and hard and thought what about drilling holes for the cords. It worked!!! Now our toothbrushes don't take up counter space and the messy look is hidden. Yes, I know brilliant.

Sunny Arizona...Roadie

My best friend is getting married! I feel a road trip coming. I convinced Sierra to join in and be my copilot, she agreed and while there, declared Arizona as her most favorite(even whispered I could see myself happily living here....)
We flew into Phoenix and then rented a convertible and drove to Gilbert. We stayed with VaLynn and her awesome family. VaLynn and Ron moved down to Gilbert so they could attend a PhD program. It was just perfect timing to see both parties during our visit.
Before the wedding, we had some time to pamper ourselves so off to get pedicures and sushi we rushed. VaLynn has never had a pedicure and that's just not OK...we put a stop to that immediately!

Super poor quality photos but you get the idea. These two were seated by each other and I on the other side of the store, it was all good. I just yelled to them when needing to communicate.

VaLynn told us of this double decker carousal in a nearby mall. When kids pay, mommas get to ride for free win win!

Can't not not show the convertible(top is up) One cool thing about this car was when I would unlock the car the alarm would sound so we got a lot of attention. This is VaLynn's apartment we are walking into. They were lucky enough to live in student housing so score on many levels!
The next day I got to see my beloved Nikki! I am so happy to see her be happy. She was married when we first met and had 4 boys. We had an instant attraction because our kids were similar in age and she having all boys and I girls, futures were discussed often. She since divorced and found her soulmate in Matt. They have two little girls and decided to make their relationship official. I can't believe Nikki got girls and messed up our system sheesh!
She was married in a beautiful park and then we headed to a restaurant for a dinner. It was so nice to interact with her new friends and see her smile.

Like I said, poor quality photos but I just had to share!

Sierra and I flew out the following day and had some trouble returning home but eventually things worked out. Let's just say we got to know the Denver airport on a cozy level. Such a fun relaxing weekend. I think I need to do this more often. Thanks Sierra for joining in and Nikki you make a beautiful bride.

Sing Arounds 1st and Kindergarten Style

At NPA we don't have parties or celebrate holidays but what we do get is Sing Around's. Each grade attends Choir each week and then they perform for an audience each quarter. The teacher is so animated and gets the kids involved. It is a delight to get to see and hear my little darlin perform every few months.

Bria is in 1st grade.  Mrs. Stoll is her core teacher and Mrs. Rock  the choir instructor. I love seeing Bria's hair bow, it melts my heart with love. She has her own style and I embrace it 100%

Miss Ada Rae is a half day kindergartener. She is lucky enough to have two teacher, Mrs. Corbett and Mrs. Odulio(who is Filipino)

So many actions and personalities shine when these cuties perform. So lucky to have my girls in an amazing school.
During Kindergarten Miss Ada Rae has lost multiple teeth. She is one proud duck

Excelerate

Part of the competition world is traveling! This fun weekend we headed south to sunny St. George.  We arrived early Friday evening so Malia and I went shopping since it is her birthday weekend. We found her a couple of dresses and shirts. We went to bed early knowing tomorrow held a busy busy full day for our family. Malia getting ready for her 3rd competition of the season. Her team has earned 1st place in every dance at every competition. Malia also performs in a trio and she has earned 1st place in that as well.

I guess Corby felt like the world needed to see my "get ready" process as well.
gorgeous alert

Because the dance performances are an all day event Corby would leave with Bria and Ada and let them swim and play and then just come back for Malia's performances. It is a much better scenario for all persons involved.

Amazing Xcelerate! You are so fun to watch perform and way to sweep every competition!
Kind of a funny side note but after Corby dropped Malia and I off at the high school we went back to the hotel with the little girls. There was a hotel door open with a suspicious body covered. There were cops involved. Yep, there was a dead man in his hotel. He had a little too much fun the night before and never woke up. Unfortunately the girls did see his body but luckily they did not connect all the dots, whew! The cop told Corby that finding a deceased body in a hotel room isn't all that surprising. Who would have thought!
